OK. This is the big one.

From now on, when you buy a pair of skis and a binding from us, we mount it for you. For free. Your pair leaves our warehouse with the binding on and set to your boot. Open the box, click in, go skiing.

We've wanted this since the day we started 1000. Honestly. Back then it was six of us, a lot of ideas, and one thing we kept coming back to: buying skis online is great until the box shows up. Then it sits in the hallway, looking at you, until you find the time. Then you carry it to a ski shop, in November, along with everyone else in town who had the same idea. You leave your boots. You come back in three days. Maybe four.

We've done that dance more times than we'd like to admit. Now you don't have to.

And we don't know of many online stores that do this. Which, to be fair, is exactly why it took us a while. Getting it right meant building a whole new cart, a mounting guide, a technician at the warehouse and a process that checks every set before it ships. It's done. We're stoked. Really stoked.

How it works

Add a binding to your skis in the cart. That's the whole trick. The cart suggests a binding that fits the width of your ski and shows which ones suit you, then turns skis and binding into one set.

It asks for five things: your weight, your height, your age, your boot sole length and what kind of skier you are. Those five are exactly what the technician needs to set your release value, the DIN. Pick your mounting position, check that everything looks right, and you're done.

Then your pair goes under a state-of-the-art drilling robot. It drills every pair exactly where it should, the same way every time, so you get the best mount we can give you and the next pair gets the exact same. A technician oversees it all, puts the bindings in place and does the adjusting by hand.

The binding is set following the ISO 11088 recommendation, using the numbers you give us. So give us the right ones.

Before your first day out, it's always a good idea to click in with your own boots and double check the fit. A worn sole can mean a small adjustment is needed. Same goes if you change boots later.

Every mounted pair also comes with a free SoftTie strap. Small thing. You'll use it every single day.

The short version of the small print

Mounted skis are made for you, so a change of mind doesn't apply once mounting has started. You have 24 hours after you order to cancel for free. Want full return rights? Buy the skis without a binding.

Something faulty or damaged? Same as always. Tell us and we'll make it right.

Why it matters to us

We make products for ourselves first. We always wanted new skis to show up ready, so the first thing you do with them is ski. Quite possibly you wanted that too.

Same skis, built by hand at Åre Ski Factory in Åre, the skiing capital of Sweden. They just show up ready now.

Keep the culture moving.

Pär

Walkthrough: the black kit, detail by detail

The collab kit we made with Haglöfs looks relaxed. Wide legs, a short and boxy jacket, nothing that screams mountaineering gear. But almost every detail on it is there because one of us got annoyed by something on the mountain, and the Haglöfs team found a way to fix it. This is a walkthrough of the black kit that drops 28 October, and how each part ended up on it.

1000 | Haglöfs 2 - The Story

It started with a pair of old snow pants. The first prototype of our Haglöfs kit was sewn by Magnus. He took a pair of snow pants he'd had for years, sat down in the sewing room at the Haglöfs office in Stockholm and started taking them apart.

New warehouses on both sides of the Atlantic

We've started a US company, 1000skis inc., with a warehouse in Salt Lake City. Customers in the US now get everything shipped from inside the country. If you're outside the US, nothing changes in how you shop with us. You order from the International store, same as always. What happens after you hit buy just got a lot better, though.

How a Ski Is Made

Every pair of 1000skis is built by hand at Åre Ski Factory, a small ski factory in the mountains of northern Sweden, a short walk from the lifts of Åre, the country's biggest ski resort. A crew of skiers has been building skis and snowboards there since 1981. We've built every pair of 1000skis there since the company started in 2021, and we've learned more about skis from them than from anywhere else.

Magnus Granér | Founder interview

We Made a Podcast. Sort Of. Half the company is in Biarritz right now. The official reason is work. The real reason is that the Atlantic has waves in September and the Alps do not have snow yet. So we put two chairs on a balcony, a camera in front of them, clipped a mic on Magnus and pressed record.

Five Years. Still Red.

Five years ago today, 1000 went live. A website, three red skis, and six people refreshing the page to see if anyone would actually buy a pair. But it didn't start there. It started with a phone call I'd been dying to make.

Sustainable Travel and Mountain Access

At 1000, the mountains are the reason we exist. The snow, the landscapes, and the communities surrounding them shape everything from our design process to our values and, importantly, the way we travel.

Shipping Smarter: Ocean Freight Shrinks Our Carbon Footprint

Switching from flying individual orders to shipping bulk batches by boat has cut our emissions by about 94%. The exact numbers are estimates, but the difference is clear, slower shipping means a lighter footprint. It’s a change that keeps our skis moving forward, with far less impact on the planet.
